DrSubodh Verma, cardiac surgeon at Toronto’s St Michael Hospital and associate professor of surgery and pharmacology at the University of Toronto, is a true renaissance man.
A gold medalist in pharmacy, PhD in cardiovascular pharmacology and MD in cardiac surgery, his groundbreaking work
has expanded the frontier of research into heart diseases, the
number one killer of mankind.
Verma, 39, has won national and international accolades —
including from the American College of Cardiology,
the Canadian Cardiovascular Society and the
International Society of Heart Research. Recently,
he was appointed the Canada research chair in ath-
erosclerosis. He has published over 150 papers and
won over 40 research awards and prizes.
