Wholesome food, snacks ideal for the gods
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Rajbhog Jersey City remains the busiest on India Square
The abundance of Indian Americans has made mithaiand snacks big business in New Jersey. And nobody knows this
better than Arvind Patel, who started a franchised store of Rajbhog Sweets and Snacks in
Jersey City in 2001, with partners Gunvant
Patel and Raju Patel.
Nationally, Rajbhog Sweets is a known pioneer in the industry, making fine Indian
sweets and snacks in America.
“Rajbhog,” as the word depicts, means
king’s (or Maharaja’s) offerings to the Gods.
Traditionally, only the finest quality sweets
were made as an offering for this holy event.
The “Rajbhog” concept started over two
decades ago in a small sweet and snack shop
in Jackson Heights, New York. The owners
and originators, Ajit and Lata Mody had one
goal: to provide the Indian community with
authentic, wholesome sweets and snacks.
Keeping this goal in mind, Ajit and Lata,
continue to create tasty wholesome delicacies
by using the finest ingredients.
The franchised stores by Rajbhog are either
run by former employees or people close to the
Mody family, to ensure an uncompromising
commitment to quality and company ideals.
All Rajbhog sweets are made using pure
ghee and mawa (fresh milk), which gives the
sweets a rich and flavorful taste.
Although the beginning was rough for this
family-owned and operated business, Rajbhog
Sweets and Snacks has gained popularity and
continues to grow rapidly. It is now headquar-
tered in Jersey City with two New York food
production facilities and ten retail shops span-
ning New Jersey, New York, Georgia and
North Carolina
Currently, Rajbhog Foods is a leading man-
ufacturer and nationwide distributor of
sweets, snacks, savories, frozen foods, ice
cream and beverages. It also caters to several
airlines and large community events nation-
wide.
