Art treat
As the Brooklyn Museum’s Vishnu: Hinduism’s Blue-Skinned Savior exhibition,
(below) with approximately 170 paintings, sculptures and ritual objects from the
Indian subcontinent, drew to a close October 2, another ode to Indian art made its
way to New York City. The Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan is hosting,
through January 8, 2012, an exhibition by the greatest Indian painters, spread across
eight centuries. Titled Wonder of the Age: Master Painters of India, 1100-1900, the
exhibition displays 200 paintings.
