Enough is enough
Forgotten heroes of 9/11
How much technical talent, ingenuity and skills are needed to run
railway trains without accidents in a
country which aims to be a superpower? Considering the number of
accidents happening every now and
then, more than what India has.
In terms of accidents and people
dying, shamefully enough, India
ranks with the Third World coun-
tries of the world. That happens
because no one is held responsible
for any mishap. I think the prime
minister’s job is considered done
when he announces payments to the
next of kin of the dead.
That kind of culture allows for no
attachment to the goods. The user
knows that, once damaged, the
goods will be replaced. Just look at
the MiG-21 aircraft the Indian Air
Force uses. How many young pilots
have died flying the aircraft christened the ‘flying coffin’?
