Mallika’s Obama moment
Her films might not be going places, but Mallika Sherawat sure is! After walk- ing the Oscar red carpet earlier this year, the Indian actress added another feather to her cap last month when she met Mr President. The actress had tea
with Barack Obama in Los Angeles. And, according to reports, the President asked
her to invite him to the premiere of her soon-to-release film The Politics of Love, a
romantic comedy on the 2008 presidential elections. After the meeting, Mallika
tweeted: ‘it was electric! Obama is d bomb:)’ What next, Mallika, tea with the queen?
Ona secret mission
Call it the Slumdog Millionaire phenomenon: India is definitely the new
hotspot for Hollywood. After Ang
Lee’s Life of Pi, the Harvey Keitel
starrer Against Itself, Mission
Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol also
turned to India. We spotted small
unit in south Mumbai recently for
outdoor and crowd shots. A BMW
four-seater piqued onlookers’
interest, as did protagonist Tom
Cruise’s body double. Well, Cruise
certainly left his Indian fans disappointed.
Bollywood not for Sendhil?
At a time when most of Hollywood is eyeing the Bollywood pie, Sendhil Ramamurthy says, ‘I’m not really concerned with surviv- ing in Bollywood.’ The Heroes actor, who stars in the Bollywood
film Shor In The City, which released April 29, told the Mumbai daily
DNA, ‘For me, doing this film was an experiment… It was very different
from filming in Hollywood. It is definitely an experience I would like to
repeat, but I am also very realistic about my chances at a Bollywood
career. Since I don’t speak the language, my opportunities will be limited, but I accept that… My career is based in Hollywood and I am happy
with having that.’ If the initial reviews of Shor... are anything to go by,
we wouldn’t pass on Bollywood, Sendhil.
